Growing up as a refugee in East Africa, Cedric Habiyaremye vowed to fight malnutrition and hunger in Rwanda. Today, he is a PhD student in Crop Science at Washington State University working to develop novel and sustainable farming practices through an approach that combines crop diversity, food science and social anthropology.

On March 24, 2016, Cedric visited Texas A&M University to deliver a first-hand account of his journey to pursue an education and his continuing mission to positively impact agricultural development in Rwanda.
