Johanna Roman

Regional Lead for Latin America


Mrs. Johanna Roman serves as Regional Lead for Latin America and is developing research programs that will help identify innovative development initiatives that promote peace and stability across Latin America, with particular focus on agricultural development and issues of food security. She previously managed agricultural development programs in several Latin American countries that promoted production of high-value horticultural crops, marketing, food processing, and education. Many educational programs targeted rural youth and women.

Johanna is a native Spanish speaker and has a B.S. and a Master’s degree in Horticultural Sciences from Texas A&M University. Her studies focused on tropical and temperate crop production with an emphasis in agricultural development. Johanna also has a Master’s degree in Education focusing on Leadership and Organizational Management. She has also been involved in coffee production and helped manage international coffee research programs. Mrs. Roman was selected to serve as a mentor for USAID’s Innovation Marketplace as part of TechCon 2016.
