Current Opportunities for Students: 

ConDev offers a number of opportunities for students and partners, which are advertised below as well as on ConDev’s Facebook and Twitter pages. If you are seeking to partner with ConDev, please contact condevcenter@condevcenter.org.

We have a number of graduate students assisting in our research programs. We are also working with three students from several universities that were awarded a Student Media Grant. At this time we do not have new specific opportunities for students, but feel free to contact ConDev to learn more about our work and to tell us about your interest in the area of conflict and development.

 

Recent Opportunities: 

Research Opportunity for TAMU PhD Student or Post Doc Researcher – Fall 2018 (Filled) 

Background: We are seeking a PhD student, researcher/post-doc interested in directing research and writing on a definitive history of the USAID CORDS program during the Vietnam War. This will be a one-time scholarship to a highly qualified PhD student, or researcher/post-doc, to complete this research and produce a publication document for public dissemination.
Deliverable: A fully researched and annotated research product suitable for publication and public dissemination.
Timeline: Would like the work to begin 2018 Fall semester. The deliverable should be completed in a year or so.

Call for Scholarship Center on Conflict and Development (Filled in 2017)

The Center on Conflict and Development (ConDev) and the Howard G Buffett Foundation Chair at Texas A&M University is offering a one-time scholarship titled “South  Asia Scholarship for Institutional Development”, for a graduate student in the amount of $4,000 USD. The scholarship is awarded through ConDev’s Afghanistan Workforce Development Projects, India Higher Education Program Initiative.  Hence, the scholarship carters to students who are contributing in USA through scholarship, research and institutional connections in South Asia. The selection criteria for the scholarship are:

  • A student in any Masters or Doctoral Program at Texas A&M University, College Station.
  • Academic accomplishments portrayed by courses taken at TAMU and performance in appeared coursework.
  • Work and contribution with institutes of higher education in South Asia.
  • Writing and communication skills pertaining to institutional development.
  • Critical thinking in areas of institutional growth and reform pertaining to development of South Asia through foreign intervention.
  • Finalists may have to appear for an interview.

Application deadline was August 15th, 2017. This opportunity has been awarded.

Call for Scholarship Center on Conflict and Development (Filled in 2017)

The Center on Conflict and Development (ConDev) and the Howard G Buffett Foundation Chair at Texas A&M University is offering a one-time scholarship titled “GIS in Conflict and Development”, for a graduate student in the amount of $1,000 USD. The selection criteria for the scholarship are:

  • A student in any Masters or Doctoral Program at Texas A&M University, College Station.
  • Scholarship and contribution GIS systems pertaining to Conflict and Development.
  • Inclination to pursue research and academic work on the nexus of development and conflict from a geo-spatial perspective.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and data with university researchers.
  • Academic accomplishments portrayed by courses taken and performance in relevant coursework.
  • Finalists may have to appear for an interview.
