ConDev is happy to congratulate Fightin’ Texas Aggie Steven Brooke on being selected for a scholarship to help bring clean water to a village in rural Nicaragua!

This award is the result of a partnership between SSC Services for Education, Living Water International, and Weathermatic, Texas A&M University’s irrigation system provider. As the A&M campus in College Station transitions to a new cloud-based irrigation system, it is expected to use exponentially less water; the concept of this scholarship is to pass on those water savings to the developing world.

Steven was selected through a highly competitive process to travel to León, Nicaragua this October, where he will drill a fresh water well with Weathermatic professionals and Compass Group executives. The trip will be funded by SSC and led by Weathermatic.

Steven was a student in ConDev Director Edwin Price’s “Food Security, Climate and Conflict” course last spring. As an international studies major at Texas A&M University, he is fluent in Spanish. We look forward to seeing what Steven is able to achieve not only as he prepares for his trip this fall, but in the years to come.
